Highlights include a superb selection of rare Swedish country-of-release one sheet posters for some of Ingmar Bergman's greatest works of the 1950-60s, including WILD STRAWBERRIES (1957) and THE VIRGIN SPRING (1959), among others.
Vintage original film scripts include rare drafts for BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ (1962), FORT APACHE (1947), IT'S A GIFT (1934), IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD (1963), JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG (1961) and the silent Lon Chaney horror classic and legendary lost film LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT (1927). There is also a presentation copy of REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE (1955) from James Dean to Sammy Davis, Jr. There are TV scripts for I DREAM OF JEANNIE, THE FUGITIVE and LOST IN SPACE.
Vintage silk screen art posters of Saul Bass' finest art for his 1950-60s film posters should not be missed, including BONJOUR TRISTESSE, EXODUS, and ADVISE AND CONSENT.
We are also presenting materials on New York theater, including original window cards and vintage stage photography. Highlights include Audrey Hepburn in ONDINE, Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier performing Shakespeare, and Barbra Streisand in her earliest stage work including her 1959 head shot and resume.
Classic Hollywood is represented with pieces featuring stars LOUISE BROOKS, CLARA BOW, KATHARINE HEPBURN, ROSALIND RUSSELL, RITA HAYWORTH, THELMA TODD, MAE WEST, CLINT EASTWOOD and films BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, DOUBLE INDEMNITY, METROPOLIS and THE WIZARD OF OZ.
Science fiction is represented with such classic titles as THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, FORBIDDEN PLANET, CURSE OF THE DEMON and others.
There is a large variety of art for foreign classics, too, and a signed music contract for Billie Holiday.
Note: We are in the process of changing our grading system. All of our new listings are on a scale, as used in the art and rare book worlds, where FINE is the highest possible condition grade. Our old listings were on a scale, as is done with comic books, where MINT is the highest grade. Within the next month, we will have converted of all our old listings to the new grading system.
For the moment, please know that FINE is our new standard for the best possible condition. We apologize for any possible confusion caused by this shift. We always have attempted to offer pieces in the finest possible condition, and will certainly continue to do so.
